"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home." - Edith Sitwell
After we get past the holiday season, winter is definitely a season of slow for us. We make fewer plans out and have more focus on spending our weekends tucked away at home. It gives our family a time to reconnect with each other and this year it gives us a chance to prepare for a new addition.
There is something I really love about waking up on a Saturday with no where to go. It may sound tragically boring to most people my age but it has been a much needed change of pace for me.
I am almost done with the first book I have read (non-kid-related) since Landon was born. I have started baking a ton. Something I really enjoy doing and something I'm proud of because I am a notoriously bad baker in my family. I have arranged and rearranged almost every room in our house. I have been writing in my journal and reading in my bible a lot more than pre-winter. Luke and I have been able to talk, connect and spend time together that I didn't even realize we were missing.
The winter allows me to appreciate time and togetherness that some seasons just don't allow. Every season is different and every season has a purpose. For our family winter is the season of home.
