Introducing Our Farmhouse Reno

Luke and I are so grateful to have been blessed with a really unique opportunity to be apart of renovating a farmhouse that our family will move into next spring! My dream of renovating an old farmhouse long preceded the fixer upper craze, although I do love me some chip + jojo!

We started house hunting last spring when I was still pregnant with Ryder. We quickly realized that we had to decide between a smaller home and yard in town that we would live in for a few years or a larger home with more land in the country that needs work but we could live in for many years. You can see which way our hearts and the Lord led us.

True story: after we had been walking thru the house for all of 5 minutes Luke turned to me and said "this is it, we can stop looking" (insert heart exploding), he is the bees knees.

Literally everything in the house has to be touched. It would probably be quicker for me to make a list of things that don't need to be done. Right now the inside is gutted and there isn't much we are keeping besides exterior walls & the stairs. The entire back addition is going to have big changes to give us more livable square footage. The amount of work it needs is a little overwhelming and we will have to keep an eye on our budget but we wouldn't have committed to this project if it wasn't with someone we trusted 100%.

Now when you see the pictures you are going to think we're absolutely crazy and you're probably right but we are so excited to bring this house back to life.

The main thing that sold us on this house, other than the obvious charm of the yellow/stained green siding (I kid) is the land. This house sits on a 20 acre plot (2 of which we will own) backed by woods. It is on a winding dirt road with only a couple of other houses near us. My sisters property is a hop-and-skip away and I'm already picturing our kids running thru the fields back and forth between our houses like I did as a kid with my cousins who lived down the road.

We hope you follow along as we take this journey and share the progress over the next 6 months… and maybe say a prayer that it can go as smoothly as possible!

xoxo
