Easter Eggs and Compromise

This past week I did a couple of Easter projects on both ends of the spectrum. We did an out-of-the-box pirate kit from Target with fake eggs and then a natural dye with free range eggs (at least thats what the carton said haha). I'm learning parenting is all about compromise. I would love to have no plastic toys, never watch TV and only eat organic but then there is real life.

So I do my best to try to balance out some of the commercialized stuff that makes them smile with some of the natural stuff that makes my heart happy. Balance. Compromise. And twice the work.

There are tons of tutorials on how to dye eggs naturally, I just picked one from Pinterest and followed the instructions. You can pretty much get any color you want depending on the vegetable you use. I only wanted to do a couple colors because it was more for me than for them. The blue was from red cabbage and the tan/brown from red onion. We have a couple of each color still soaking to get a deeper shade. Seeing the purple water from the cabbage turn to blue was pure magic.

Todays decoration and Sundays deviled eggs.
