Cut Flower Garden

(bug shirt (in white) // duck boots // book)

One thing I'm looking forward to when we move out to the country is starting a cut garden. Nothing too big or fancy, just a little chunk of the yard dedicated to growing flowers with the purpose of cutting them. I'm sure we will have traditional flower beds along the house as well.

My sister told me about cut gardens a few years ago and I've been obsessed with the idea ever since. I'm definitely not looking to get into the flower business, I just love the idea of having my own source to go out and get fresh flowers to create arrangements to have around our home or share with friends and family.

But for now, until we move, we are just doing a couple terra-cotta pots of flowers to grow. Landon helped me and is really excited to watch them grow. He checks them daily… only like 42 more days till they will be ready haha.

The book above (purchase here) was released earlier this year and is an amazing resource! You can also visit their website here. I started following them on Instagram because they had gorgeous photos from their farm and eventually went to their website and have just fallen in love with their company and family.

For those wondering about a vegetable garden; we are trying a community garden this year at my sisters. I'm really excited about it! The garden is bigger than anything we could manage on our own and we will get a big variety of vegetables without the added work.

The idea is that each family takes a row or two and chooses just a couple vegetables (different than anyone else) to grow. We will then share and trade with everyone. We are hoping to grow enough to be able to do some canning in the fall. This year we are growing cucumbers, a couple varieties of squash and broccoli.

Hopefully Landon will be just as excited to help me weed as he was to plant!

xoxo.
